The 2020 Christmas Alone Bundled Sandwich
2020 has not worked for many, and Christmas was cruelly snatched away from us by the Prime Minister of the UK after repeated promises that he wouldn't do that particular thing.
To celebrate the ineptitude, I created a new sandwich from Christmas leftovers made up of some random items because we didn't have the usual Christmas feast, being just the 2 of us instead of a family gathering.
So here goes, for your delight and wonder, a sandwich that gives you a wonderful sweetness, tempered by a sharp and bitter bite; much like the UK government of 2020.
Ingredients
Butter
Gooseberry Chutney
Sliced Turkey
Sliced Stuffing
Sliced Pigs in Blankets
Sliced Tomato
Cheddar Cheese
Lettuce
Mustard Mayo
Betwixt two slicens o'breads, white, brown; sourdough or rye, place these items:
first of all butter both slices of bread and then add to one the gooseberry chutney; on top of that go the slices of turkey remaining from the huge one you tried to eat on your own. Then add the stuffing, we used vegan stuffing but you could add more meat if you so wish. On top of that go the sausage in bacon and then we pause the Christmas leftovers to add some other flavour - tomato, salad or whatever you fancy, just cover the surface. Add to that the cheese all over and then some lettuce ripped into shreds by your own fair hand. English mustard and mayo are mixed to the other slice of bread and viola, fini, place on top and squeeze down.
Important note: it is all about the layers, each one must compliment the next, stick to the order.
Now I left this a few hours to eat so all the ingredients could flow together and it was worth the wait. This sandwich must be served room temp, or hotter, perhaps stick it in the oven for even more delicioesness. Magnifique.
Enjoy, and if you are vegan or veggie or anti-pork then use normal stuffing, veggie sausages and perhaps no turkey whatsoever, it will still taste PDG.
Happy 2021 to you all.
